2 double hand-held viewers: Colour blindness
These hand-held viewers:
- Let you quickly show your customers the benefit of therapeutic filters.
- Allow binocular viewing.
- Let you judge the benefit of polarisation.
The 2 principles in low vision:
- Physically, short-wavelength (blue) light is scattered more, so eliminating it increases contrast.
- To do so, blue light is cut from 450 to 585 (wavelength) as cleanly as possible: this is the base tint.
- This tint can then be varied in light intensity, giving a whole range of more attractive lenses.
- Low-vision patients are more sensitive to brightness: the more blue is cut, the lower the light intensity.
- Lowering the brightness creates a diffraction spot, which improves ametropia.
Note:
Blue-violet rays may be harmful to the eye (especially the retina); all low-vision lenses cut them. The tints in the set
